Ultimate Sails Factory Race Team- St Helena Cup PDF Print E-mail

team shot

Ultimate Sails recently sponsored a team in the very competitive St Helena Cup sailed out of Wynnum Manly Yacht Club.  The team consisted of Andrew Clauson's Tokyo Trash Baby (I550), Greg Black's Mad Jack and Andrew Turner's Alien Biopsy(T650).  They finished a respectable 6th in the teams event, with impressive results by Mad Jack and Alien Biopsy and an outstanding 3rd place in Saturday's race by Tokyo Trash Baby in the 98-boat fleet.  A great weekend was had by all who competed, thanks to Wynnum Manly Yacht Club and the organizing committee for yet another wonderful event.

Flight Deck wins French Yacht Challenge again PDF Print E-mail

In rather challenging conditions Flight Deck has won the French Yacht Challenge for the second year in a row.  The 25 boat strong fleet faced winds varying from next to nothing through to 30 knots on the nose to finish the race in. This hotly contested event is fast becoming one of the must do's on the Brisbane calendar with the fleet growing in size every year.  Congratulations must go to Michael and Leeanne Schmidt for winning for the second year in a row, an amazing effort.

Ultimate Sails helps Sailability Bayside

Ultimate Sails continues its close relationship with Sailability Bayside with the completion of two new sets sails for the 303 dinghies.  This wonderful volunteer non-profit organisation is dedicated to providing sailing for people with disabilities, regardless of age, gender or disability.  It has been active in Manly Harbor for a number of years now and with 9 Access 303 sailing dinghies, 1  Access 2.3m sailing dinghy, and a 7.4m Payne yacht named ‘Faith’, all specifically designed and built for the disabled.  On its sailing days of Monday and Thursday the dedicated volunteers take up to 55 clients out on the bay to enjoy the wonderful experience of sailing.   The total joy and delight this brings the clients as they experience the freedom that only being on the water can bring, is something which needs to be seen to fully understand.

Ultimate Sails is proud to be associated with these amazing people and the very important work which they do.  If you would like any more information on Sailability Bayside please go to their website  http://sailabilitybayside.org/

Dave Lindsay helps on a new campaign

Earlier this year we helped Dave Lindsay out when he wanted to sail his 14 foot Caper Cat from Manly to Mackay to raise funds for the Mater Childrens Hospital. He and his family went on to raise over $60,000 for the Royal Childerns Hospital Working Wonders Foundation.  This Campaign was in memory of their youngest daughter and sister Juanita who passed away after a long battle with cancer in August 2007 at the age of 18.

He is now going to help the Sail 4 Palsy team sail from Cairns to Townsville to raise money for Cerebral Palsy. Check www.sail4palsy.org to see details and follow there sail starting on Sunday 13 December 2010.
